Introduction to Handgun Course Description

Duration:

Classroom Time: 2 Hours

Range Time: 1 Hour


Course Fee: $150 (includes 9mm ammunition)


Prerequisite:

  • No prior experience with firearms required
  • You do not have to own a handgun or safety equipment to attend this course
  • Ammunition, handguns, safety equipment, range fees and instructional fees are all included in one price


Overview:

  • Fundamentals of firearms safety and safe gun handling
  • Anatomy and mechanics of handguns
  • Muzzle awareness
  • Proper grip and stance
  • Sight alignment and sight picture
  • Trigger control
  • How to safely load, unload and fire a semi-automatic handgun

DH1

Defensive Rifle Carbine Firearm Handgun Gun Pistol Instruction Training Dallas Texas

DH1 - Defensive Handgun 1

The perfect course to prepare you for the License To Carry range qualification test, and to equip you with the primary skills required to safely carry and employ a handgun in an everyday carry defensive situation.


Duration:

Range Time: 6 hours


Prerequisite: 

Working knowledge of firearms safety and manipulation, including the skills described in our Introduction to Handgun course curriculum


Course Fee: $195


Overview:

  • Course is predominantly focused on safely drawing, presenting and re-holstering a handgun for defensive purposes
  • Biomechanically efficient body positioning and grip
  • Sight alignment / sight picture
  • Precision & stress sight picture work
  • Speed and administrative reloading of the handgun
  • Clearing of malfunctions


Student Required Gear:

  • Closed toe shoes / long pants with belt loops / hat
  • Sturdy belt
  • Handgun
  • Holster
  • 3 magazines
  • Magazine carrier
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Water and snacks
  • 200 rounds of ammunition for your handgun
  • NOTE: Aim True does NOT provide ammunition for this course, and will not have any ammunition on the range for students to purchase


Regarding Holsters: We strongly recommend bringing a modern, high quality, outside the waistband holster (meaning paddle or belt style), made of kydex material. The following holster types are NOT ALLOWED:

  • holsters made of nylon material
  • cross draw holsters
  • shoulder holsters
  • ankle holsters
  • purse or backpack holsters
  • deep concealment belly band type holsters
  • Blackhawk brand Serpa holsters

Defensive Rifle Carbine Firearm Handgun Gun Pistol Instruction Training Dallas Texas

DH2 - Defensive Handgun 2

This course focuses on the science of precision shooting, firearm manipulation and body positioning, as well as moving and shooting techniques for the purposes of effectively defending yourself when employing a handgun


Duration:

Range Time: 6 hours


Prerequisite: 

Proficiency with drawing and firing from the holster, as well as all aspects of firearms safety, muzzle awareness and muzzle discipline. The ability to perform the skills described in our DH1 course curriculum, while timed, and under range induced stress


 Course Fee: $195 


 Overview:

  • Trigger finger placement, control and timing
  • Firing from concealment and cover
  • Firing from positions
  • Manipulating and running the gun on the move
  • Multiple target engagement scenarios


Student Required Gear:

  • Closed toe shoes / long pants with belt loops / hat
  • Sturdy belt
  • Handgun
  • Holster
  • 3 magazines
  • Magazine carrier
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Water and snacks
  • 250 rounds of ammunition for your handgun

DHV - Defensive Handgun - Vehicle

THIS IS A STRICTLY VETTED COURSE,

RESERVED FOR HIGHLY DISCIPLINED

AND COMPETENT SHOOTERS.


This course focuses on safely manipulating and employing a handgun while in and around a vehicle, for the purposes of effectively defending yourself in this close quarters, often difficult to navigate environment


Duration:

Range Time: 6 hours


Prerequisite: 

Advanced level of proficiency with drawing and firing from the holster, as well as all aspects of firearms safety, muzzle awareness and muzzle discipline. The ability to perform the skills described in both our DH1 & DH2 course curriculum, while timed, and under range induced stress


 Course Fee: $195
 

 Overview:

  • Principals of round trajectory and penetration through different materials on a vehicle
  • Principles of cover and concealment afforded by a vehicle
  • Drawing and firing from the holster in and around a vehicle
  • Handgun manipulation in and around a vehicle
  • Firing from positions associated with defensive vehicle engagements
  • Multiple target engagement work


Student Required Gear:

  • Closed toe shoes / long pants with belt loops / hat
  • Sturdy belt
  • Handgun
  • Holster
  • 3 magazines
  • Magazine carrier
  • Eye and ear protection

DARKNESS

DARKNESS - Handgun

THIS IS A STRICTLY VETTED COURSE,

RESERVED FOR HIGHLY DISCIPLINED

AND COMPETENT SHOOTERS.


This course focuses on safely manipulating and employing a handgun in the dark while utilizing a handheld flashlight, for the purposes of effectively defending yourself in this complex, unwieldy and often difficult to navigate predators environment of choice 


Duration: 

Range Time: 8 hours 


Prerequisite: 

Advanced level of proficiency with drawing and firing from the holster, as well as all aspects of firearms safety, muzzle awareness and muzzle discipline. The ability to perform the skills described in both our DH1 & DH2 course curriculum, while timed, and under range induced stress


 Course Fee: $225 


 Overview:

  • Principals of searching, navigating and positive threat identification
  • Principles of low light / no light tactics and “dominating with light”
  • Drawing and firing from the holster while employing a handled flashlight, utilizing the Harries, Rogers, Neck Index & FBI techniques
  • Natural point of aim development 
  • Darkness oriented moving and communication drills
  • Multiple target engagement work  


Student Required Gear:

  • Closed toe shoes / long pants with belt loops / hat
  • Sturdy belt
  • Handgun
  • Holster
  • 3 magazines
  • Magazine carrier
  • Eye protection - both shaded and clear
  • Ear protection
  • Course specific handheld flashlight
  • A light meal, water and snacks
  • 450 rounds of ammunition for your pistol
  • NOTE: Aim True does NOT provide ammunition for this course, and will not have any ammunition on the range for students to purchase

How to Sign Up for a Course

Aim True specializes in private and more often than not custom training courses for both individuals and groups. Training is limited to a maximum number of six participants per class.  To reserve a date and time, simply click the "Contact" button below to send us an email.  We can then call you to discuss curriculum, available training dates and rates. After your reservation is confirmed, you will receive an email from our PayPal account.  Payment for all courses is due in full 48 hours prior to the start of the course.
