Step 1: Online Texas LTC course
Online Texas License To Carry Course Description:
Getting your License to Carry a Handgun LTC (formerly called Concealed Handgun License CHL) in Texas is now easier than ever.
This state approved online class provides the mandated Texas Department of Public Safety classroom training required to obtain your Texas LTC. The class is 4 hours long, plus the time required to take the written exam, which is administered in a multiple choice / true or false format.
To complete the training, simply watch the videos online from any computer, smartphone or tablet - at your own pace. You are able to watch as much of the class as you would like at one time, then stop and start again where you left off, with your progress being saved as you complete each video segment.
The cost for the Online Texas LTC class is $50.
After successful completion of the online class, a Proficiency Demonstration is required to be completed with our state certified LTC instructor. This consists of 1-2 hours of range instruction, including shooting the qualification test (Proficiency Demonstration) at the end of the training session.

Step 2: LTC Proficiency Demonstration
Texas License To Carry Shooting Qualification / Test
Once you have obtained your state approved online LTC classroom training certificate, you are ready to schedule the required range training and Proficiency Demonstration (live fire shooting test).
The test requires that you must be able to load and unload your magazines or cylinder on your own, without assistance from others. You must be able to demonstrate safe weapon handling techniques while loading, firing and unloading your handgun.
This is a test of both proficiency and accuracy which is performed under time.
Per Government Code 411.188, the State of Texas requires “an applicant who successfully completed an online version of the classroom instruction part of the handgun proficiency course to complete not less than one hour but not more than two hours of the range instruction part of the handgun proficiency course before allowing a physical demonstration of handgun proficiency”.
NOTE: No instruction can be provided while the test is being administered.
It is either pass or fail.

For clients with little to no experience with a handgun. This course includes basic handgun training with the LTC shooting test being administered at the end of the course.
