Who We Are
Diamonds & Derringers is an Aim True Group LLC organization that brings ladies together from around the greater Dallas TX area for twice monthly meetings to learn, practice and grow both as a group and individually. D&D creates an opportunity for like minded women to gather in a female friendly environment to discuss issues relating to self sufficiency, safety and security, to learn new skills in the classroom, then transition practice into performance with routine live fire range and practical skills lab training sessions.

Question: What if I am brand new to shooting, am a little uneasy about all of this and do not even own a firearm or any safety equipment yet?
Answer: This group is a perfect fit for you!
The first step in your journey would be to attend our Introduction to Handgun course. This will provide you with the basic skill set required to feel comfortable enough to jump right in and hit the range with the rest of the Members.
Keep in mind... we all began this journey at the same level – with little to no experience. Many of our Members started off by attending two or three D&D training sessions before purchasing their first handgun. A firearm is like a new car. It’s a great idea to test drive a number of different makes and models before committing to the final purchase.
Handguns and safety equipment are available for new Members to use free of charge for the first few training sessions, providing time for you to purchase what you need.
Two weekends a month (either from 9:00 to noon or 1:00 to 4:00 PM, depending on the time of year - see calendar below) we meet at our private, Members only training facility for a combination of classroom and live fire range training. This is the perfect environment to develop the real world, on-demand skills required to defend yourself, including drawing from the holster, multiple target engagement work, shooting on the move, working in and around barricades and so much more. We are on 20 acres with a climate controlled classroom, a two story simunition shoot house - and yes, real bathrooms with hot running water!
In order to provide adequate staffing, Members are required to sign-up in advance of the weekend courses and seasonal special training events. Click on the reservations button below to send us an email.
We are just 45 minutes east of Dallas / 2 miles from Prairieville TX (near Canton / Cedar Creek Lake).
Click here for a map to Prairieville. All Members will be sent directions to the property.
Question: What if I cannot make it to all of the training sessions on the calendar?
Can I still be a Member?
Answer: Yes, of course!
We see many of our Members at each and every class, while others attendance is more sporadic due to their hectic schedules. All are welcome.
Question: What if I don't have all of this range equipment?
Answer: Not a problem. Just let us know what you need in advance of a meeting and we'll get it all lined up for you. See Frequently Asked Questions below and click on the Gear Recommendations button for more information.
Quarterly special training courses such as working from within and around vehicles, operating in low light / no light conditions, AR-15 carbine training, etc. is afforded to all Members at no additional charge. See the annual training schedule below for details.
On the weekend of March 21st and 22nd starting at 1:00 PM, Members are invited to participate in our Force on Force - Darkness training course. Link HERE for details. This is a Members only event. Seats are limited. Advance registration is required.

The big day may have come and gone, but check the schedule below for our next exciting Members only quarterly special training event.
Urban Contingencies: In an ever changing world, preparedness, vigilance, and well-laid courses of action are paramount. This progressive 12 month curriculum prepares first year Members with pre, mid and after-action survival solutions be it inside the home, out and about in the community or on the road.
This annual training program is broken up into quarters:
1Q: Your Home is Your Castle / Home Preparation and Defense
2Q: Travel Preparation / Working In and Around Vehicles
3Q: Low Profile Summer Carry / Alternative Weapons
4Q: Darkness / Heavy Winter Dress / Heavy Weapons
The classroom portion of the program is presented one weekend per month, immediately before or after the live fire range training session, depending on the time of year. See training calendar below for details.
$75 per month, invoiced either annually at $900 per year, or quarterly at $225 every three months. At an average cost less than $40.00 per training session over the calendar year, you simply cannot get this level of training for this price anywhere else!
In addition to having access to all meetings and events on the annual training calendar, all Members receive:
Unsure of whether D&D would be a great fit for you? We are so confident that you are going to love it (and that we are going to love you!) that we welcome prospective Members to “put their toe in the water” by attending any of our training sessions free of charge. Simply send us a message below to reserve seats for you, your friends and family.
Routine training dates are shown in green. The Urban Contingencies Initiative classroom training dates are shown boxed in red (along with range training on the same day). Special Event dates are shown in salmon.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We typically send D&D invoices every 90 days via PayPal, which can be paid with a credit or debit card. Alternatively, we have a point of sale device whereby credit or debit cards can be processed in person. Checks and cash are also acceptable.
Q: Are range fees included in my Membership?
A: Yes. There are no additional range fees assessed at our private range.
Q: Do I need to sign-up in advance of each training session?
A1: Yes. We need to know how many Members will be in attendance for staffing purposes.
A2: Members can sign-up by sending us an email HERE
Q: Can I attend on Saturday and Sunday?
A: Sunday is the "default" training day. Saturday is the "overflow" day. There is a limit on the number of Members who can train on any given day. Once the Sunday roster is full, Saturday slots will then open up. This is why reservations are important. Members are able to train one day per weekend, but not both days.
Q: Is the Saturday and Sunday curriculum the same, including the special events?
A: Yes, it is the same.
Q: Are there any makeup training dates?
A: There are no makeup dates for missed classes or special events. Any training date that is cancelled due to rain or unforeseen events will be rescheduled to a later date, if possible, at no additional cost to Members.
Q: If I cannot make it to class, can I get a partial refund on my Membership dues?
A: No. The low cost individual monthly training rate benefits the Membership as a whole by securing the scheduled training dates on the calendar and ensures instructor staffing availability.
Q: If I am a Member, should I do additional training outside of the D&D program?
A: Absolutely! As a responsible armed citizen, you should train as often as you can with your firearm(s). While some Members excel in a group training environment, others make rapid gains in a one-on-one setting such as our Private Training and Coaching program. Additionally, many of our Members visit their favorite local indoor gun range once or twice a month on their own to further hone the skills learned in class.
Q: Which handgun do most Members prefer?
A: Buying a handgun is similar to finding the perfect pair of heels. It is difficult to find just the right balance between form and function. After trying out a multitude of makes, models and calibers, the majority of Members prefer a striker fired (hammerless) semi-automatic pistol (not a revolver), without a thumb or grip safety, in 9mm. The most common makes and models are Glock models 19, 43 and 48 or a Sig Sauer P365.
Q: What about ammunition?
A: Ammo is not included as part of the Membership fee. Aim True can provide 115 grain 9mm ammunition only (no other calibers) to Members for purchase at the range, but it is best to have obtained your ammo in advance of the course(s). Recommended ammo retailers: Eagle Gun Range, Super Vel or your local outdoor store such as Academy, Cabela's, etc.
Q: What type of ammunition should I purchase?
A1: The following are NOT ACCEPTABLE, under any conditions: steel core, armor piercing, incendiary or tracer ammunition.
A2: Though they are acceptable, it is best NOT to bring FMJ or Hollow Point (HP) ammunition since steel plates are utilized for the targets. You will want to bring Total Metal Jacket (TMJ), Copper Plated (Plated) or Polymer coated ammunition if possible.
Q: What if I don't even know what kind of ammunition to buy for my gun?
A: Easy deal. Just call or email us. We'll figure it out together!
Q: Do I really need a holster?
A: Yes, you really need a holster. When training on our range, there is not a bench or table in front of you to lay your handgun down on. Initially, the holster can be considered as nothing more than a safe place to put your gun when you are not actively working with it. We are happy to assist you with finding just the right holster to suit your body type and lifestyle. If you are borrowing one of our pistols, we have plenty of holsters for you to try out as well. Just let us know what you need in advance of training day.
Q: What eye and ear protection do you recommend?
A1: Eyes: Bolle Silium + in clear and/or tinted lenses
A2: Ears - affordable: Howard Leight or Walkers brand (we offer these as loaners)
A3: Ears - not so affordable: Sordin Supreme Pro-X (Anna wears these)
Q: Should I get my License to Carry (LTC)?
A: Though it is not required to become a Member, the answer is unequivocally, yes. Link to our Constitutional Carry page to learn about the benefits of having your LTC.
