This House Bill 1069 (HB1069) compliant course is administered by our Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) certified instructors utilizing the official curriculum created by the TXDPS, in accordance with Texas Government Code §411.184, which includes a combination of classroom instruction, written examinations, pistol training exercises and pistol proficiency demonstrations (shooting tests). After successful completion of this course, students will receive their TXDPS approved certificate of completion.

Location: Our private training facility, 45 minutes east of Dallas, in Prairieville TX
Prerequisite 1: Currently employed as a State of Texas first responder
Prerequisite 2: Valid Texas License to Carry
Course Fee: $900
Course Objective: To educate Texas first responders who hold a valid Texas License to Carry a handgun on the responsibilities related to carrying a handgun while on duty, in accordance to House Bill 1069. The TXDPS outlined objectives are as follows:

These topics are not separated into four independent sections or modules. They are covered throughout the curriculum.
Course Synopsis:
On day one, immediately following the welcoming of students and introductions, two pre-exams will be administered. A minimum score of 90% on both pre-exams is required for the continuation of the training course.
Pre-Exam #1: Written Test. This examination is designed to test students’ knowledge and understanding of the following:
Pre-Exam #2: Proficiency Demonstration. If the student passes the written pre-exam, they will then head out to the live fire range to perform the handgun Proficiency Demonstration. This is the same shooting test that was required to obtain your LTC.
Students who do not pass the pre-exams will not continue on and may re-apply as a new applicant for a future course. The course fee is not refundable.
Over the course of the three day training program, students will participate in both classroom and live fire training exercises. Days 1 and 3 run from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. In order to perform the handheld flashlight Darkness shooting requirements, Day 2 starts at 9:00 am and wraps up at 9:00 pm.
At the end of Day 3, a final written exam is administered, whereby a score of 90% or better must be achieved in order to pass the course and receive a certificate of completion.
Students who do not pass may reapply as a new applicant for a future course. The course fee is not refundable.

o No greater than 6 inches in total length
o LED bulb (no Xenon or incandescent bulbs)
o Tail cap, momentary on/off capable switch
o CR123A battery type

Critically Important Note:
Though firearms training is an integral part of this course, students must arrive with the aforementioned basic shooting skill-set. A multitude of shooting tests are administered across the three day training period - all of which are much more difficult than the LTC shooting test.
Should you feel the need to improve upon your current skill-set prior to attending this course, we offer an optional one day shooting prep-course in which all requirements of the shooting qualifications are covered.

We strongly recommend bringing a modern, high quality, inside the waistband (IWB - worn inside your pants, between your body and the material of your pants) or outside the waistband holster (OWB - worn on the outside of your belt), made of kydex/plastic type material. Leather holsters are acceptable, but kydex is preferred.
