Bill Rogers, a legend in the shooting community, created the venerable Rogers Range along with his cutting edge reactive shooting school decades ago. This incredible training, once reserved for tip of the spear special operations forces is now available to law enforcement and responsible armed citizens alike.
We are honored to have earned the privilege to be a part of the instructor cadre at Rogers Range Texas, which is but one of the many ranges within the 2300 acre Mission Critical training ranch in Gatesville TX (near Fort Hood in Killeen).
The Legacy training course is four days, beginning on a Thursday morning. This program mirrors the original Bill Rogers curriculum. Course fee: $1075
Based upon the Legacy course, our Chronos two day weekend course is comprised of our process oriented shooting school curriculum. Every aspect of the fundamental skill-set required to successfully perform on the Rogers range is broken down into minute detail, including: shooting positions, drawing from the holster, durable single and two hand grip methodology, single and two hand reloads, correlation of sights/dot and vision, sight confirmation, trigger control, reactive (0.50 sec splits) and predictive (0.25 sec splits) shooting, rapid target transition techniques, etc. This building block and skills stacking method of instruction is presented in a crawl, walk, run format, affording students the opportunity for exponential growth within a compressed timeline. Students who attend Chronos typically go on to CRUSH the Legacy course. Course fee: $550

The Mission Critical training ranch is west of Fort Hood / Killeen TX. It is a privately owned and operated facility which is not open to the public. There are no day shooters, range passes or range members. The address will remain undisclosed until payment for your course is received. Directions to the ranch and the gate access code will be provided prior to your arrival.
The course begins each day at 9:00 a.m. We will take a quick lunch break on the range around noon. Training wraps up between 3:00 and 4:00 daily.
Rogers Range training is not an introductory or beginners handgun course.
Proficiency with the followings items are required PRIOR to attending a Rogers course:
Note: Mastery of one handed shooting is not a prerequisite. You simply need to have the ability to do so SAFELY, at a very basic level. We will take it from there.
Watch the BASIC SKILLSET REQUIREMENT VIDEO below for details.
Shooting is performed from three different positions: Extended Ready (low ready), Transition (compression / high thoracic) and the Holster. Download the Shooting Positions sheet below for details.
The Pre-Course Prep Work section below has been provided in an effort to proactively equip you with the tools required to perform on the range. We strongly encourage you to download and review all of this information, then put it to work through dry-fire practice at home, followed by proof of concept live fire training at the range, well in advance of your scheduled training date.
Immediately after the range and safety briefing on day one, all students are required to perform a basic pistol handling and shooting proficiency demonstration.
Download and review the Proficiency Demo document below.
See BASIC SKILLSET REQUIREMENT VIDEO below for details and to use as a training aid.
Approved projectile type:
Due to the close proximity of the steel plates to the shooter, only the following ammunition types are allowed on the Rogers Range:
The following projectiles are not allowed:
The exception being MIL / LEO only courses whereby the use of duty ammo is required.
Armor piercing and incendiary rounds are NOT allowed under any circumstances.
Ammo for sale at Mission Critical / Rogers Range:
Mission Critical sells 9mm 115 grain TMJ ammunition only. Ammo must be purchased from MC prior to your course.
Daily Round Count:
500 to 600
A high capacity semi-automatic handgun with four magazines is required. Due to high round counts per drill, single stack magazine fed pistols and revolvers are not allowed.
A magazine capacity of 14 or more is a good baseline.
A sturdy belt with a high quality outside the waistband (OWB) kydex holster and magazine carrier(s) for two spare mags is required. Inside the waistband (IWB) holsters are allowed - but user beware. The slide may become too hot to touch due to high round counts. Re-holstering may burn your skin, even while the pistol sits inside the holster.
The following holsters are NOT allowed:
Quality, ballistic rated eye protection is required to be worn at all times.
Electronic / amplified hearing protection is required.
The closest store or restaurant is more than 30 minutes from the ranch. Be sure and arrive every morning with your lunch, snacks and drinks on hand. You will not have time to make a round trip into town and back during the lunch break.
Do NOT wear your favorite clothes and shoes to the Rogers Range. You are likely to get paint speckles on your clothing and shoes while you are re-painting the steel plates between drills.

Students typically choose to stay in Gatesville TX at the following location:
Holiday Inn Express & Suites
This Gear Overview video covers what to bring to a Rogers course, including belts, holsters, magazine carriers, etc.
This five minute dry-fire instructional video demonstrates the basic pistol skillset required to participate in Rogers Range training. It is intended to be utilized by students to prepare for their upcoming training and includes the skills required in the Proficiency Demonstration.
The side stepping maneuvers shown during reloads and malfunction clearing simulate “stepping outside of the doorway”, which is required on the Rogers Range. Though there are a number of excellent one handed reload techniques out there, in order to maintain range safety protocols and course of fire timings, the only allowable method is the one depicted here.
Note: A high level of skill with one handed shooting and manipulations is NOT required to attend (we will get you there) – but the ability to safely do so is essential.
Tech Note: If watching any of the videos by smart phone, you may need to download them to your phone first in order to view them in full screen mode or to mirror them to your tv for training.
