Below is a compilation of basic gear recommendations. Should you have specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are more than happy to assist with your outfitting needs.
Eyes:
Ideally, your eye pro is lightweight and form fitting, provides full eye socket coverage, the lenses are NOT MADE OF GLASS, has a more than adequate protection rating, and the frame along the temple is thin enough not to interfere with your hearing protection cups making a good seal against your head.
Ears:
Electronic (amplified) hearing protection is a must. This equipment allows us to communicate with one another on the range in a normal tone of voice, while at the same time having the ability to instantly block out high decibel sounds when required.
Handheld Flashlights:
We prefer a light with a grip ring or "donut" on the light body. This allows for a two handed grip to be employed while engaging targets.
Weapon Mounted Lights for Pistols:
Weapon Mounted Lights for Carbines / Subguns:
We strongly recommend bringing a modern, high quality, inside the waistband (IWB - worn inside your pants, between your body and the material of your pants) or outside the waistband holster (OWB - worn on the outside of your belt), made of kydex/plastic type material. Leather holsters are acceptable, but kydex is preferred.
The following holster types are NOT ALLOWED while training with us:

If you are unsure of your gear, we are happy to go discuss it with you prior to class.
Inside the waistband, outside the waistband, pocket carry, off-body carry, ankle carry, etc... It can all be quite confusing. For a better understanding of the pros and cons to different holsters and carry options, link to this comprehensive video presented by Tenicor: 9 Concealed Carry Positions

Slings:
NOTE: The following are NOT ACCEPTABLE, under any conditions when training with us: steel core, armor piercing, incendiary or tracer ammunition.
Training Ammunition:
At any indoor range, "target ammunition" rounds such as Full Metal Jacket (FMJ), Total Metal Jacket (TMJ) and Copper Plated (Plated) ammunition are typically the most affordable.
At our outdoor range, it is best not to bring FMJ or Hollow Point (HP) rounds, since steel plates are utilized for the targets. You will want to bring Total Metal Jacket (TMJ), Copper Plated (Plated) or Polymer coated ammunition.
Defensive Ammunition:
For your everyday carry or duty ammunition, Hollow Point (HP) or Solid Copper Hollow Point (SCHP) "safety rounds" are recommended.
