Description of the Test:
The proficiency demonstration (test) consists of a 50 round shooting qualification. Being a “proficiency demonstration”, proper gun handling and safety is being demonstrated by the applicant to the LTC instructor.
Applicants must score a 70% or higher to pass. That is 175 points out of a possible 250 points. There are multiple rings on the target (as depicted) for scoring. Everything in the 8 ring and in is 5 points, inside the 7 ring is 4 points and outside the 7 ring but still in the body is 3 points.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate, at a minimum, the degree of proficiency that is required to effectively operate a handgun. The LTC instructor shall, through observation and/or practical exercise, determine if the student is able to safely load, unload, and manipulate the safety features of his/her weapon during this demonstration period.
