Designed for clients having prior experience with a handgun, who are prepared to walk onto the range and perform the LTC Proficiency Demonstration on demand, with no assistance from others.
Duration: 1-2 hours.
Note: This Proficiency Demonstration opportunity is available to both men and women.
Course Fee: $95 - includes administration of the LTC Proficiency Demonstration.
Range Fee:
Indoor Range: $30 + tax paid directly to the range upon check-in.
Outdoor Range: No range fee.
Ammunition: You are welcome to bring your own ammunition or purchase ammo from the range upon check-in. The cost of ammo is not included in this course. The test requires 50 rounds of ammunition. You may consider having a nominal 150 rounds on hand: 25 to 50 rounds for practice and to get warmed up + 50 rounds to shoot the test + 50 additional rounds to re-shoot the test, if need be.

Attending this course does NOT guarantee passing the LTC shooting test. The test will be administered per the State of Texas standards, as described below.
NOTE 2:
The LTC Proficiency Demonstration (test) will be administered a maximum of two times, back to back. In the event a passing score is not achieved, a re-test may be scheduled for a later date for an additional charge of $95. Failure to pass the test will NOT entitle you to a refund.

Description of the Test:
The proficiency demonstration (test) consists of a 50 round shooting qualification. Being a “proficiency demonstration”, proper gun handling and safety is being demonstrated by the applicant to the LTC instructor.
Applicants must score a 70% or higher to pass. That is 175 points out of a possible 250 points. There are multiple rings on the target (as depicted) for scoring. Everything in the 8 ring and in is 5 points, inside the 7 ring is 4 points and outside the 7 ring but still in the body is 3 points.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate, at a minimum, the degree of proficiency that is required to effectively operate a handgun. The LTC instructor shall, through observation and/or practical exercise, determine if the student is able to safely load, unload, and manipulate the safety features of his/her weapon during this demonstration period.
The entire course of fire (below) must be completed. Rounds that are not fired within the allotted time, including malfunctions are lost and cannot be made up.
Course of Fire:
Stage 1: Twenty shots (20) fired from 3 yards:
A. Five (5) shots fired in a “One Shot Exercise” with 2 seconds allowed for each shot.
B. Ten shots (10) fired in a “Two Shot Exercise” with 3 seconds allowed for each two shot sequence.
C. Five (5) shots fired in 10 seconds
Stage 2: Twenty shots (20) fired from 7 yards:
A. Five (5) shots fired in 10 seconds
B. Five (5) shots fired in 2 stages:
1. Two (2) shots fired in 4 seconds
2. Three (3) shots fired in 6 seconds
C. Five (5) shots fired in a “One Shot Exercise” with 3 seconds allowed for each shot.
D. Five (5) shots fired in 15 seconds.
Stage 3: Ten shots (10) fired from 15 yards:
A. Five (5) shots fired in two stages:
1. Two (2) shots fired in 6 seconds.
2. Three (3) shots fired in 9 seconds.
B. Five (5) shots fired in 15 seconds.
