LADIES ONLY CARBINE - 2023

The Mission Critical training ranch is in Gatesville TX, near Fort Hood in Killeen. It is approximately 2.5 hours from DFW. The address will remain undisclosed until course payment has been received. Directions to the ranch and the gate access code will be provided prior  to your arrival.

The course begins with a meet and greet / pre-training briefing at 9:00 a.m.

We will take a quick lunch break on the range around noon. 

Training wraps up at 4:00.

This is a basic, entry level training course.  No prior training with a carbine is required.  The goal of the course is to have a great time together, while learning the fundamentals of operating a semi-automatic magazine fed rifle.  All that is required is a positive outlook and the ability to safely manipulate a firearm while in the presence of others.

• Setting up your carbine and sling to suit the individual shooter
• Female oriented biomechanically efficient body and carbine positioning
• Zeroing your iron sights and / or red dot
• Speed and administrative reloading
• Clearing of malfunctions
• Fundamentals of movement with a carbine
• Shooting steel plates at distances up to 300 yards - you can do it!

• Seasonally appropriate clothing including:
  • Closed toe shoes
  • Long pants for kneeling and shooting from prone
  • Baseball style hat
• Shirts:
  • No low cut tops. Hot brass down the shirt is never fun!
  • Long sleeves are preferable when laying down in prone position
• Carbine fitted with:
  • Sling (critically important)
  • Iron sights, red dot optic, or both
  • Note: We will not be using magnified optics for this course
• 2 magazines
• Magazine carrier if you have one - if not, simply put your extra magazine in your back pocket!
• 300 rounds of ammo (see below)
• Knee and/or elbow pads are optional. We don't typically wear them, but feel free to bring them if you would like to.
• Eye and ear protection
• Water, lunch and snacks

If you are unsure of your gear, what you need or how to set it up, we are more than happy to help you.  That is what we are here for!

We call this a carbine course because so many people own AR-15 style rifles chambered in 5.56 / .223 - but - this course is not limited to AR's in rifle calibers.

The following platforms are certainly acceptable as well:

• Pistol caliber carbines (rifles in 9mm, .40 caliber, etc)
• AR-15's in .22 caliber

Note: This course is for semi-auto firearms only.  No full auto weapons will be allowed.

All NFA rules must be adhered to at all times.

Fully outfitted carbines are available for rent at a cost of $75 per day.

Armor piercing and incendiary rounds are NOT allowed under any circumstances.

Can I bring my .22 caliber AR-15?  Absolutely! The fundamentals of shooting will not change no matter the caliber you are shooting.  Bring your .22 and enjoy the savings in ammo cost!

The closest store or restaurant is more than 30 minutes from the ranch.  Be sure and arrive in the morning with your lunch, snacks and drinks on hand. You will not have time to make a round trip into town and back during the lunch break.
